Getting your gas appliances serviced every year will not only insure that you are safe from gas leaks and carbon dioxide poisoning, it can also save you a lot of money. Servicing every year helps your appliance to run efficiently and keep your gas bills low, this also means there is less chance of a breakdown.
At D.E.M we believe in informing the customer as to exactly what should be involved (but is often missed) in a gas appliance service. After all You should be getting what you pay for!
Gas Boiler Service
■ A visual check to ensure your boiler still meets current standards and is safe.
■ Boiler fired to identify any working faults.
■ Boiler casing removed to check all main boiler components (burner, heat exchanger, main injector, spark/sensor probe).
■ Checks to ensure flue terminals are unobstructed and internal flue components are sealed properly.
■ A test is carried out to check that the burner is combusting efficiently and properly (normally using a flue gas analyser).
■ Inside casing surfaces cleaned.
■ Boiler parts cleaned if necessary.
■ Gas tightness test conducted to ensure no leaks.
■ Boiler casing put back on - check that properly sealed.
■ You should receive a service report that shows everything the engineer has done to maintain your boiler.
Gas Fire service
■ Check appliance for gas tightness.
■ Check working pressure if test points available.
■ Check burner pressure / gas rate against manufacturer's instructions.
■ Check for satisfactory ventilation.
■ Provide flue/gas analyser report (where possible).
■ Check satisfactory operation of all safety devices.
■ Check Burners and Injectors for signs of incomplete combustion.
■ Check for physical stability.
■ Carry out flue flow / spillage test to ensure safe removal of products of combustion.
■ Report any evidence of unsafe operation to a responsible person.
■ Inspect flue to ensure it is safe, secure and to current standards.
■ Carry out a tightness test of the full system to check for leaks.
